Principal’s Report.

Mid Year Reports and Parent, Student & Teacher (PST) Conferences

Congratulations to our students for their achievements in semester one.  Last Friday parents gained access to your child’s reports on Compass. Your child’s attendance has been recorded in the report as well. The school aims for a 95% attendance rate for every child. In reality for the half year we hope that children have less than 5 days of non-attendance. Research proves that frequent absence has a negative impact on a child’s learning and social development.

PST conferences were held on Wednesday for all students Prep – Year 6. We appreciate parents demonstrating their partnership with the school, through attendance at these meetings.  The meetings provide an important link between what your child is learning and how well they are learning and planning for improvement.

Inter-School Sport:  The competition played against local schools is complete.  Children played T-Ball, Soccer, Football, Netball and Tennis.  All children who participated had a wonderful opportunity to test their skills and learn valuable ball and team membership skills.  There were lots of wonderful achievements and efforts displayed by our children. Congratulations to Sarah van Nieukerk and the year 5 + 6 staff for their great organisation and efforts.

End of term:  It is now the end of term and I wish to thank our staff and school council for their efforts and energy to support our student body and programs. We had some colds and bugs during the later part of the term but teams supported each other and we maintained consistency of teaching and learning.  Highlights for me have been the efforts of the whole school community to support our 100th Anniversary celebrations. Our Mother’s Day Stall and various school, district and regional sporting events were successful. Interschool sport and camps and excursions have operated successfully and the NAPLAN assessment process was implemented smoothly. At all levels there has been a highly visible learning environment in teams and specialist programs. As we head into term three we commence with a Curriculum day on Monday 15 July so students commence on Tuesday 16 July.  We have our School Walkathon on 1st August and we continue preparations for the year 5/6 School Concert which is held on Thursday 15 August. Cheers. David Foley

Food allergies and sharing of food guidelines

We wish to remind parents that students are not permitted to share their food ie lunch or treats. Students are not to swap their food or give away their treats. In the event of a student not having their lunch, the teacher will attempt to contact the parents or arrange a suitable alternative sandwich and a piece of fruit (taking into account the student’s dietary needs). Students are encouraged not to bring any food product to the school that is known to contain nuts. Teachers do inform their students of the dangers associated with food sharing and in particular egg, dairy and nut allergies and reactions that some children can have if those children touch or digest these products due to the potential of them having an anaphylactic reaction.

Please refer to the school Anaphylaxis Policy for further descriptions and details.

Update on school uniform

At our information sessions in February we announced that we had commenced exploring a change of student uniform and this created much excitement! Shortly after our announcement, we were made aware of the sale of RHU to our new supplier, Spartan. This meant that we needed to start new discussions with a new company. During the discussions, we were made aware that the company is holding a significant amount of stock that has slowed down the process. We are now working hard on this and are hopeful to be able to introduce a new uniform for the start of 2026. We have taken on board feedback from our families about green bottoms and we are pleased to share that students are now able to wear black or green pants, skirts, shorts etc. Students are not permitted to wear heavily branded athletic wear, such as 2XU or similar. If your children change to wearing black bottoms, they are required to be plain black without embellishments. We will keep you informed on our journey with this.
