Dear Parents and Families
As we reach the midpoint of the year, it’s incredible how quickly time has flown by!
Reflecting on the past term, there is much to celebrate within our thriving community.
Yesterday, we held our annual public speaking competition, and it was a resounding success. Adjudicators from St Vincent’s College were highly impressed by the calibre of our entrants. Congratulations to Joseph Khoury (Year 4) and Sofia Micalizzi (Year 5), who emerged as winners. They will proudly represent St Francis Xavier at the Ashfield-Olympic Park Public Speaking Finals in August.
It was heart warming to see so many families this week at our parent-teacher interviews, open classrooms, and principal awards assembly. Your presence and support mean so much to us—thank you to everyone who attended.
Our NAIDOC Week assembly, led by our Year 6 students, was a poignant and meaningful event on Monday morning. Looking ahead to 2025, our students will have even more opportunities to learn about and appreciate Indigenous culture, both in school and beyond. This will enhance the excellent education we provide at St Francis Xavier, Ashbury.
Tomorrow, we have our staff development day, where our team will engage with Amy Green, author of Teacher Wellbeing. Amy’s extensive knowledge and expertise will undoubtedly support and enrich our team further.

As we embark on our winter break, I wish all members of our community a safe and happy holiday with their families. It is an honour to lead the St Francis Xavier community, and I eagerly anticipate all that we will accomplish for our students in the coming years.
Enjoy the break from packed lunches and ironing uniforms!
See you next term,
Brian
