We were very luck enough to have Martha Haylett MP of Ripon visit our classroom two weeks ago. Martha kindly took time out of her day to meet with our 5/6s to discuss everything and anything about being a local member of parliament and her day-to-day tasks.
Awesome questions were asked to her, and our students got a clear insight of her roles and responsibilities not just locally, but what she can also do for our school community. She was very excited hearing that we are travelling to Canberra for our camp, a camp she attended in primary school and has very fond memories of.
We'd like to thank her again for coming in!
Our writing day was a huge success. We were very proud on how our students worked and the quality of writing produced was very pleasing. There were many great ideas and insights about their history piece, which was captured as them being in that time and from their perspective.
Here are some examples of writing below:
I believe they have more fun now that Charles isn't bossing them around to be gentlemen all the time, Harry swam in the beach yesterday and splashed around, he was finally being a kid... Ele - Princess Diana
I stood there. I had noticed that they had black apple shaped things on their arms. Oliver! Stay away from them! They have the black plague! Eliza - The Black Plague
She is getting a little better, but still is bad. We've been locked in our house for over 2 months now. Every time I look outside all I want to do is have fun and do something, but now the town looks like nobody lives here anymore. It's a ghost town. Thea - The Black Plague
In STEM, students have been coding with the use of 'Scratch' to create many projects to challenge themselves and others. They have been programming animations and working towards making games etc. Our lunch time coding club have led these projects and we have witnessed some awesome collaboration between all students.
