Classroom News
As mentioned in the Principal's section of this newsletter, our school community has been hit with the dreaded winter coughs and colds this week. With between 30 and 40 students absent each day this week and half our staff away on average each day the classroom news may not appear for some grades this week.

Year 2/3
Hello Families,
Here we are at the end of the Term. Time has just gone by so quickly. I want to take a moment to thank all the families for all their hard work and support in regards to helping children complete homework, return notes, make healthy lunches and for keeping them home if they are sick. It takes a village to raise a child and I am so grateful for all that you do. Please stay warm and safe over the break and make sure you all have some time to rest and relax.

Blue-ringed Octopus By Katalina
The blue-ringed octopus are the venomous types of octopus and they are a part of the molluscs family. You wouldn't want to keep one as a pet!!
Habitat
Blue ringed octopus lives on the warm coastal waters of Australia; they also live in the West Indies, Hawai, New Zealand, New Guinea, China, Philippines and Indonesia. They live in caves under the water and in rock pools. Also in the shallow ends of the seashore.
Hunting
When blue-ringed octopus hunt they use this thing called “camouflage”, They stick on rocks and wait for prey to come by. Then they charge at them and capture them with their tentacles and eat them. They are carnivores so they eat meat so they eat crabs.Shellfish, and sometimes their own kind.
Safety
Blue ringed-ringed octopus could be a threat to us humans so it is safe if you stay away from these octopus. You could be on your deathbed if you get stung as there is no antidote
I hope you stay away from them as they are very poisonous.

One day on the ocean blues there was a pirate ship floating calmly on the ocean. It was a very hot day. The pirate crew, inside the pirate ship's name was Captain Nice. So since it was a very hot day they decided to go to 7 Eleven. So they pulled over and started to steer the ship to 7 Eleven.
At 7 Eleven they all got slushies and they headed off to go to the jungle to find treasure. They were all very kind pirates. This was because they always spoke nicely to each other and helped each other.
On their way to the jungle to find their treasure they found a parrot who had fallen from up in the sky to the deck of the pirate ship. ”Oh no poor parrot’’, said the captain because the parrot was injured. So they decided to help the injured parrot while they looked for the treasure. They named the parrot Lucky. So they continued on their journey to find treasure.

A Day in the Life...
I know its the second last day of term but, if you're a life-long learner, it doesn't matter when you learn new things, does it? Like;
# walking to Bell Station to catch the 9.23 to Flinders Street,
# meeting under the clocks at Flinders Street station,
# visiting the State Library to view Beruk, the great leader of the Woiwurrung Wurndjeri people,
# seeing how magnificent the octagonally designed Dome of the State Library is,
# trying your hand at playing chess outside in the fresh air!
# visiting the famous Queen Vic Markets to buy some hot, savoury, sweet treats and enjoy the sunshine,
# trying a new food for the first time,
# riding an escalator and
# viewing the shot tower and have a feeling of megalophobia in the centre of your city!
Time to go to bed now, I'm tired.
See you all in a fortnight!
