WELCOME TO ATHLETICS SEASON!

House Athletics carnivals are coming up!

Students from grades 4, 5 and 6 will be competing in the House Athletics Carnivals this term. All the track events will be on Thursday 25th July. All the field events will be on Wednesday 31st July. Both days will be held at Duncan MacKinnon Aths track from 9:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Parents are welcome to attend and cheer our students on! All students will compete in the 100-m, 200-m, discus, shot put, high jump, long jump and triple jump. The two optional events are 800-m and 1500-m. Students have already elected to compete in these long-distance events.

We would appreciate parent assistance at our House Athletics Carnival on the field events day, Wednesday 31st July. We need assistance with measuring at these field events. Please contact Mrs Walker at school if you can assist on the day. Thank you to the parents who have already reached out.

We look forward to seeing our little athletes in action! The school athletics team will be selected from these days.

THE JAPANESE WORD OF THE FORTNIGHT

さむいです(pronounced ‘samuides’) which means ‘cold’ is the Japanese Word for Week 1 & 2 of Term 3.

You can simply use ‘さむいです’ (‘samuides’) instead of ‘cold’ when you feel cold. Please be careful, ‘さむいです’ (‘samuides’) does NOT mean ‘cold to touch’

Thank you / ありがとうございます (pronounced ‘aligatoh gozaimas’) for your continuing support for our Japanese program.

Valkstone Primary Music Lesson Update

Instrumental Music is off to a great start this year. Students have been learning a broad range of repertoire, from classical pieces by Bach and Mozart and movie themes like “Pirates of the Caribbean” as well contemporary songs such as “Counting Stars” and “Lean On Me”.

It's great to see the progress being made by all of the music students, and especially our Valkstone Band! Lessons are held during school time on a Monday, and we currently have places available for Flute, Violin, Keyboard, and Drums.

To enrol or for more information regarding the program, you can contact Musicorp on 1300 858 911 or enrol directly at:
