Our Learning
During this fortnight in the 3- and 4-year-old kindergarten, the children have been undertaking learning in the following areas:
Pre-Reading | - Identifying name labels when sitting for lunch
- Recognising letters and numbers in print around the room
- Borrowing books from the ELC Library to read at home
- Developing narrative skills through sharing of stories and weekend events

Pre-Writing | - Developing a hand preference through drawing and painting experiences
- Building gross and fine motor skills through the use of easels
- Developing and refining fine motor skills through the use of playdough, threading, scissors, tap-tap boards and clay.
- Using tongs to pick up and sort loose parts

STEM | - Develop an understanding of cause and effect-Children create a marble run using loose parts.
- Develop an understanding of positional concepts (In, next to, behind, on top, under Etc)
- Continue to strengthen the understanding of 1:1 correspondence

Inquiry | - Exploring the Unit of Inquiry: How we express ourselves through art
- Explore Monet art work exploring foreground and back ground
- Explore representational art and continue exploration world oceans day
- Create sculpture, both 2D and 3D with clay, using slip and tools
- Box constructions, with recycled materials.
- Build upon the properties of wire, adding tissue paper

Social & emotional learning | - Identifying emotions through artwork
- Zones of regulation
- Learning to read body language of those around them
- Exploring strategies to support regulation

Celebration of learning
Enrolments for free 3 and 4 year old sessional kindergarten.
Enrol through Casey Council for Hillsmeade Kindergarten.
Long Day Care enrolments with kindergarten is through the ELC office.
