Backpacks 4 Vic Kids
Through our Inquiry topic of "Who Cares" Year 5 students are collecting items to donate to Backpacks 4 Vic kids. Donations of stationery, baby items, toiletries, socks, undies, clothing and books. All items should be new and still in packaging. Donations can be brought into the Year 5 classrooms for the next week.
Incursions
The year 5 students have been lucky enough to have two incursions recently. They learnt first aid and the importance of DRSABCD in helping to save a life.
Earlier this week, we watched a Brainstorm Production called "Sticks and stones" highlighting important strategies when faced with bullying from friends and strategies to stick up for yourself.
"Everyone gets mad sometimes, but don’t hit out. You’ll be Ok, Just walk away. Put your hands in your pockets, that’s where they stay. Take a deep breath and count to 10, you’ll feel better again"
HOMEWORK
A focus of Year 5 is developing speed and fluency with multiplication facts. Students are encouraged to learn their multiplication and division facts to support them with other areas of Mathematics as the year progresses.
Reading each night is an ongoing expectation. Reading can be tracked in students' diaries or through Epic.
