Term 2 Weeks 10 & 11

Here is what the Year 2 students have being doing during the last fortnight of learning and also a sneak peek of what is coming next.

Reading - Students will be engaging in literacy activities using the Little Learners Love Literacy program. During reading classes, they will be using a range of different text to expand their comprehension. We will look at answering questions, making connections and facts and opinion using a range of different mentor texts.

Writing - Students are coming to the end of the procedural writing unit. They have had the opportunity to write many different procedures about a range of topics. They know the elements that make up a procedure including title, aim, materials and steps.

Maths - Year 2 students have moved on from addition and into multiplication. Students are engaging in learning activities using unfix, blocks and counters to create a number sentence story, write the repeated addition sum and skip count pattern to match.

To finish of the term students will explore money and the different ways of counting and adding.

News and reminders:

Library books and borrowing: Each week or fortnight we visit the library and encourage our students to borrow a book. At the moment we have most students borrowing, which is great to see. With the end of the term coming up, can we please make sure we return all library books. Can you please help your child to find and put their library book into their bag so it can be returned to the library. Any concerns please talk to your classroom teacher.

Jumpers: Students need to come to school with jumpers and jackets. A friendly reminder to make sure they are named clearly with your child's name and class.

Home Reading: Take home readers have started. We encourage all students to bring their reader bag back each week to change over their books. Please make sure you are recording when your children are reading each night.

Maths Riddle of the week: Check back after the holidays to see if you got the correct answer!
