Year 1 Update

Upcoming Learning -Term 2, Weeks 10 & 11

During the next fortnight, Year 1 students will be undertaking learning in the following areas:

Reading	Students continue to engage in literacy activities using the Little Learners Love Literacy program. The focus texts for our reading are relating to the community. Our digraph focus is long ‘u’, including ue, and ui.
Writing	Students are learning about poetry and using the poem Hickory, Dickory Dock to focus on rhyming, and the poems from A Poke in the I, to learn about concrete poems. They continue to work on their handwriting daily.
Maths	Students are revising some of the Maths concepts they have learned over the Term, including doubles, near doubles, place value and time activities.
Inquiry	Students are exploring communities including their classroom, school, community groups they belong to and community helpers. They will be working on a collaborative project to build services that they find in our community. We will be displaying this for other classes to come and see our masterpieces.
SEL	Students are engaging in learning activities through the Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships program . We are also exploring the story "My Mouth is a Volcano" and focussing on how to regulate ourselves so we don't interrupt others .
