School Uniform Policy

Over the last few months the School Council have been working diligently on the creation of the updated Hillsmeade PS School Uniform/Dress Code policy.

There has been great debate and discussion around what would be fair and reasonable expectations of our HPS community.

The policy will go live in Term 3. We ask families to be familiar with this, as starting next term classes will be discussing these expectations and staff will be enforcing the dress code as stipulated by the policy.

The main points to note are that all tops/polos/jumpers must have the school logo and black is NOT an acceptable colour - only navy blue and red with a touch of white. This applies to all headwear, excluding hair accessories eg scrunchies. Socks can be any colour! Shoes are to be runners (any colour) or black leather school shoes.

In regards to beanies, because they are a new addition for 2024, all types of beanies can be worn this year, however we encourage the new Hillsmeade beanies or navy blue beanies to be worn. In 2025 only Hillsmeade and navy blue beanies will be allowed.

More detail is provided in the policy and we will share the policy next week via Compass. There will also be a 6 month initial implementation period.

We thank the community for supporting our School Council and their creation/update of the policy and look forward to a more streamlined approach at the school.

Hillsmeade PS no longer has a VISITOR TOILET for the general public to use.

As of Wednesday 19th June 2024, Hillsmeade PS will no longer have unregistered visitor/general public access to toilets on school premises. The closest toilet available to those other than staff, students and registered visitors will be at Casey Central.

School Council made a motion and passed this decision on Tuesday 18th June 2024, after much deliberation, however the safety of our students comes first and this has been compromised at times with the availability of a public access visitor toilet.

Toilets on school grounds are not available to the general public.

When we arrange school based events, there will be allocated toilets for the general public. Student toilets ARE NOT for anyone but students.

If there is an emergency situation for toilet use -

please see the office and we should be able to assist.

We appreciate that some families may take time to adjust to this change, but School Council and I appreciate your understanding and support in this matter.
