Aoife's Message

Good morning Holy Cross families,

Winter is certainly letting itself be known as we enter into Term 3. However a wet start to the term didn't dampen any spirits as children gathered back together to learn and play.

Prep 2025

For our current families with a child joining us next year, we can't wait to chat with them at our Prep interviews in August, look out for a letter coming your way next week! We still have some spaces available for next year if you have families or friends who are interested.

Reminder - Parent/Teacher chats

You have an opportunity to meet with teachers for Parent/Teacher chats on July 29th and 30th. If you have not already done so please book in a meeting time via schoolinterviews.com using the booking code: k32db

Reminder: Semester Two - Parent Engagement sessions

Over the last 18 months we have been establishing and consolidating clear and consistent pedagogy across our school. You may have noticed an emphasis on professional development which involves our whole staff, we are committed to learning as a team to best support children. Much work has been taking place in classrooms and in planning sessions to enhance and improve our practices. Evidence based approaches have been explored, implemented and analysed to ensure we are meeting the needs of children. We would love to invite families to come along to some sessions where we share what's happening across our school. We will be running short sessions during the school day where you are invited to observe learning in action and find out a little more about what happens across our school each day. We understand that sessions during the day may not suit everyone so we will continue to upload videos and photos to Facebook and Instagram to keep everyone in the loop. Seesaw will also be used by class teachers to communicate an aspect of learning each fortnight in Semester Two. This might be a piece of written work or a link to essential assessment data in literacy or numeracy. Please see Operoo for a more detailed letter which was sent out this week.

Our Parent Engagement sessions will run for approximately 30 minutes and will have the following foci: Maths, Reading, Writing, Discovery, Inquiry and Faith.

Session 1: Wednesday 24th July, 9:10am, Take a moment for Maths (Whole school focus)

Session 2: Wednesday 14 August, 9:10am,  Dig into Discovery (P - Yr 2 focus)

Session 3: Wednesday 28th August, 9:10am, Let's look at Literacy (Yr 3-6 Reading focus)

Keep an eye out for further dates and times related to P-6 Faith, Yr 3-6 Writing, P-2 Reading & Writing and Yr 3-6 Inquiry.

We're looking forward to a happy and settled term at Holy Cross. Please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's class teacher, or any member of the leadership team if you have any queries or concerns throughout the term.

Have a lovely weekend,

Aoife

Prayer

Heavenly Father, we ask for a flourishing community, where members love each other. We pray that we can be good stewards of Your love to each one of our neighbours. We ask that You help us to learn from all those in our community, may we see the light of Christ in one another.  May Holy Cross be a place where all are welcomed. Amen.

All students attending Holy Cross Primary School have the right to feel safe. The care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people is a fundamental responsibility of all within our school.
