A Message from

Hannah & Keir

“We would like to acknowledge the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people, the first people to dream, create, wonder, dance, play and learn on this breathtaking land. This land was cared for and respected for tens of thousands of years. The First Nations people lived in companionship with the animals and the life on this land. We acknowledge that this is stolen land and we pay our respects to elders, past, present and emerging.”

Semester One Reports

2024 Semester 1 reports were published last Friday. Families can access the reports by opening Sentral and following these four simple steps;

1. Click on your child’s profile

2. Click on Student Details (Top right)

3. Click on the + beside Academic Reports

4. Click on Semester 1 2024

In addition to the information that we include inside the front cover of the report, we have created a short video. The video answers many of the most frequently asked questions about how to read and interpret BNWPS reports. We would like to thank Libby Harper (a BNWPS parent and a long-time member of the Education Sub Committee) for coming up with the idea for the video, and for taking a starring role! The video can be found here.

This is a good time to remind everyone how individual we all are - our interests, passions, experiences, skills and challenges all vary greatly. BNW deeply values the individual nature of every human being and we do not like attaching labels to students - the report and the grades within are intended to communicate progress, but do not convey the full richness, complexity and excitement of your child or their school experience.

If you have any questions about your child’s report, please speak with the class teacher.  If you require support to access Sentral, please come in and speak with a member of our office staff.

NAPLAN Reports  (Grades 3 & 5)

Students in grades 3 and 5, who sat NAPLAN earlier this year will receive their individual NAPLAN reports tomorrow. An information sheet that answers frequently asked parent/carer questions, as well as explaining how to read the NAPLAN report can be accessed here

Foundation Enrolment 2025

There are many families in our community who have children that will be starting school at BNWPS in 2025. Applications for enrolment are due by the end of July. If you have any questions or want to share any information in the lead up to your child’s enrolment, we would love to chat with you. If this applies to your family, or anyone that you know,  please give our office a call (9386 4624) to organise a tour with some of our senior students and a chat with Hannah, Keir or Emma.

3/4 Camp Info

On Thursday evening, there will be an online information session for parents and carers about our upcoming year 3/4 camp to Campaspe Downs. The session will take place online, 6:00 - 6:30 pm. A link has already been sent to all 3/4 families through Sentral and will be resent on Thursday, in case you’ve lost the previous message. We look forward to seeing the parents and carers of our happy campers there.

Parent & Caregiver Opinion Survey 2024

Every year the Department of Education conducts a survey to find out what parents & caregivers think of our school. The Parent Opinion Survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement. The survey is optional but we encourage all families to participate. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.

The Parent Opinion Survey will be open from next Monday 29th July to 30th August.

The online survey is completely anonymous and takes approximately 20 minutes to complete. It can be accessed at any time within the survey period on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones.

Your family’s login information will be distributed through Sentral later this week.
