Report Update

We are still patiently waiting for the Sentral Development Team to rectify the issue of previously recorded achievement (Semester Two, 2023) not appearing on reports for English and Mathematics.

This issue has impacted many other schools as well, so we are hoping to be updated soon. When we receive communication from Sentral that the issue has been resolved, reports will be republished to the Sentral Parent Portal and emailed to each student's first Primary Contact.

We thank you for your patience.

Reading Assessment

Teachers are busy completing reading assessments with all students across the school. Twice a year, teachers complete benchmark reading assessments with students in a one-to-one, student-teacher conference. This happens during student assessment days at the beginning of the year and again in Term Three. The student reads aloud and talks about the book while the teacher observes and codes reading behaviours. Errors and self-corrections are analysed in terms of: meaning, structure and visual information (MSV). Comprehension questions are asked and discussed and have a focus on the key understandings of: Within the Text; Beyond the Text; and About the Text. This information is used to find an Instructional reading level each semester to help direct future teaching and learning, and develop learning goals. These benchmarks further support the ongoing reading assessments that take place day-to-day in a classroom during guided reading sessions, conference groups and whole class instruction, just to name a few examples.
