LOTE Greek
In Junior School this term, students from Prep to Year 5 study the theme of “The Olympic Games from Then to Now”. The students learn all about the history of the Ancient Olympic Games, their values and how these inspired the Modern Olympic Games. Emphasis is given to the importance of fair play, peace, friendship, greatness, glory, and determination. A variety of activities about the symbols of the Olympic Games such as the Olympic flame, flag, hymn, oath, motto, and medals contribute to the students’ deeper understanding.
Here are some of the Year 4 students’ insights on how the Olympic Spirit assists them in their development of their identity and growth:
Δ΄ Τάξη (“I feel proud that the Olympic Games began in Greece and spread all around the world.” Carly M. 4 BFI).
Δ΄ Τάξη (“I am fascinated by the Olympic Games, because promote peace between the nations.” Eleni D. 4 BFI).
Δ΄ Τάξη (“I love the Olympic Games, because they teach me important things in life, such as to try for my best performance in Sports.” Danai P. 4 BFI).
