Junior School Principal Report

I want to start by acknowledging the wonderful behaviour of our students during the assembly. It was fantastic to see so many students receiving awards and those celebrating the success of their peers. As I said during the assembly, you all have another chance during Semester 2 to get subject based awards, so set yourself a goal and work hard!
Thank you to our Science teachers who spent class time walking to Mullum Mullum reserve where they completed a Scavenger Hunt. Staff and students reported that it was a positive experience.
It is during Term 3 that we often see students drop off a little in homework submission. Please ensure that your children are completing their English and Maths homework each week as well as supporting them finishing any major assessment tasks.
It has been a busy period of subject selection and camp preparation. Mr Cole has commended the way the students have approached their first taste of subject selection with almost every student completing it by the due date. Mr Cole and Ms Jones have been working very hard to prepare a personal development program on Monday and Tuesday to lead into camp on Wednesday. We are all grateful for their hard work in preparing these opportunities for students who will rotate through activities on Time Management, STEM, Proactivity, "Kids in Philanthropy" as well as us touching on respectful relationships and an Amazing Race. Mr Cole has recently sent an email for parents to support their children with some jobs around the house to help them build a small bank of money to bring in and donate to the charity "Kids in Philanthropy". We want to stress that this is not compulsory.
Year 9 students have all had a course confirmation meeting with a member of our student leadership team. It was quite the seamless process due to the organisation of Mr Given. For the first time this year we wrote to students who had shown positive work behaviours and offered them to enhance into a VCE pathway next year. If you have any feedback on the process feel free to get into contact with myself or Mr Given, as with any of our processes we welcome feedback from the parent body.
A huge congratulations to our Junior Girls' Footy team who won the State Quarter and Semi Finals. Details on the Grand Final are below and we would love to see a big crowd in attendance supporting our girls play off for the state championship.

GPA reports will be available to families from today. We hope you get a chance to look through them with your child to discuss the strengths and areas for improvement. Students will have some opportunity through the mentor program to set some goals.
