Last week Norwood celebrated Science Week – “Species Survival”. Students of all year levels enjoyed a range of different activities each day, including a National Science Quiz, a chance to observe different species, an Escape Rroom challenge, a colouring competition and a People’s Choice award for the best photograph of a species. Congratulations to our winners Cailin, Kira, Jess and Ellie that managed to escape extinction in the Escape Room and Narelle for winning the photography competition.
Students in Year 7 are working through the topic of Ecosystems. This week students headed down to the local Mullum Mullum Creek to participate in an ecosystem scavenger hunt and were able to observe abiotic and biotic factors that make up an ecosystem. It was great to see students locating different types of species that are considered producers, consumers and decomposers.
