Premier's Be Active Challenge
Preventative Health SA recommends that children participate in 60 minutes of physical activity every day (www.preventivehealth.sa.gov.au). Physical activity is an important part of a child’s development and has many social, emotional, intellectual, and health benefits.
We are encouraging all students to participate in the Premier’s Be Active Challenge over the next 4 weeks. The challenge aims to motivate students to be more active. To complete the challenge, students are required to be active for 60 minutes a day, on at least five days a week, for 4 weeks.
Students will bring home a record booklet this week. Upon completion of the challenge, the booklet must be signed by a parent and returned to the class teacher. Booklets must be returned by the end of week 8, Friday 13th of September. This gives us time to enter student data before the deadline. Students will receive their participation medals in Term 4.
Your encouragement makes a difference. Head to the Premier’s Be Active website for information on how you can support your child to be physically active.

Book Week
Students and staff are encouraged to dress up guided by this year’s theme ‘Reading is Magic,’ or as a book character for the Book Week parade on Thursday, 22 August. More information will be provided in the weeks to come.
Thank you to our fabulous Performing Arts teacher for choreographing a Book Week dance for the whole school to perform. She has shared the link for those who would like to practice at home:
Brainstorm Productions incursion
On Friday, 23 August Brainstorm Productions will be presenting their student wellbeing performance ‘Sticks & Stones’ for all of our students. ‘Sticks & Stones’ is a live educational theatre performance that promotes resilience, cyber safety and positive connections.
‘Sticks & Stones’ is part of our student wellbeing curriculum and has been developed by teachers and psychologists. This exciting live theatre experience provides students with practical social and emotional skills, and encourages students to build positive connections at school, at home and online.
Brainstorm Productions are endorsed by the eSafety Commissioner as a Trusted eSafety Provider and listed as an evidence-based bullying prevention program on the Victorian Schools Mental Health Menu. Learn more about Brainstorm Productions by visiting their website (brainstormproductions.edu.au)

Important dates:
Adelaide Festival of Music
Earlier this week, families were informed of their child's selection for the Adelaide Festival of Music which will take on September 12 at the Adelaide Festival Centre (concert 4).
The general public sale for concert 4 opens on Ticketek on Monday, 5th August at 3pm but it is worth checking online as pre-sale tickets may still be available. We found it easier to locate the tickets by searching for Adelaide Festival Centre, and scrolling down to find the Festival of Music event.
