Principal's Report

Dear Parents,
What a wonderful time our junior students had last week. Our preps came to school in their PJs to have breakfast and get changed into their uniform, whilst our grade 1 and 2 students stayed late at school playing games, watching a magician and then a movie. Whilst the grade 1s went home at 7:30pm, the grade 2 students slept over, made their lunch for the next day and had breakfast here at school.
Go them for developing their resilience and independence skills, and preparing themselves for camps in later years away from school. A huge thank you to all of the staff for their assistance in making this happen, especially those who slept away from their own family. These events couldn't happen without your dedication and commitment.
Coming up very soon is the first of three transition sessions for our 2026 prep students. Thank you to all of those families who have registered their prep child for next year. For those who have yet to, or if you know someone yet to, please get your enrolment forms in as soon as possible. We want to see all of our 2026 preps attend all three sessions.
If you wander by your child's classroom any time soon, you will see that we have installed brand new Comm Boxes into each grade and specialist area. These replace the old data projector systems which have reached the end of their life. Whilst we are new to this technology, Mr Davidson will be teaching staff how to use these impressive devices over the course of this year and into next.
If all that isn't enough, our Prep -4 swimming program is also fast approaching. In the 12 months from July 1 2024 to June 30 2025, 357 people died from drowning across Australia which is a 27% increase and way too many. Of all the programs we offer here at school, I would strongly suggest all families consider enrolling their child in this program as a life saving measure. So, if you haven't done so as yet, please do so so we can include your child is this important program.
To finish, please be sure to read the details on the School Council page of this newsletter regarding changes to our book packs for next year. The deadline to order one is December 7, after which there will be additional costs. This same message was sent out last week to all families in a number of languages to ensure all receive the message.
Please note, the school will not be providing book packs as it has done in previous years. Parents will have to purchase their own materials or a book pack itself.
Kind Regards,
Simon McGlade
Principal
