Christmas Concert - Thursday December 11 @ 2.00pm
On Thursday December 11 at 2pm, St Joseph’s will be celebrating the end of the year with their annual ‘Christmas Concert.’ This concert will be held starting at 2pm, in the school grounds, with all families to be seated by 1.45pm (please bring your own seats as per usual).
This year, I have written a short Christmas play with a difference, and students have been working tirelessly on choreographing their class dances and singing their class carols.
Please find below an outline of the concert and what each class or specific child will need to wear. It is not expected that families buy new clothes for this. Please be creative and use what is already at home, or that you can source easily. Costumes do not need to be brought in earlier than the day. More details regarding the running of the day will be forwarded at a later date. It is a fun and quite casual concert.
The performance is titled: “Santa’s Lost List!” – and follows Santa and his Elf, Tinsel, as they journey to find Santa’s ‘misplaced’ naughty and nice list.
Foundation classes – SC and BW – students in these classes will be playing reindeer on Santa’s farm, and dancing to ‘Cotton Eyed Joe.’ They will need to wear bush dancing / farmer / cowboy / cowgirl type clothes, scarves, bandanas, with reindeer antlers. Yes, two characters in one!
Year 1/2 – students in these classes will be playing the toys in Santa’s toy factory. 12GM will be dancing to ‘Barbie Girl’. 12CL will be dancing to ‘Toy Story’ and 12ZH will be dancing to ‘Trolls’. A costume to suit each type of scene might include dressing like a character or just wearing bright colourful clothes.
Year 3/4 – students in these classes will be playing the lollies and candy that Mrs Claus uses to decorate the Gingerbread house. 34JM will be dancing to ‘Gummy Bear’. 34MH will be dancing to ‘Lollipop’ and 34LB will be dancing to ‘I Want Candy.’ A costume to suit each type of lolly mentioned, just any costume to represent a lolly or candy will do, or just bright colourful clothes would suit the theme also.
Grade 56TD - students in this class will be dancing to ‘Reach For The Stars.’ Any costume that represents stars, silver, gold, white, sparkles etc will be fine.
Grade 56NW - students in this class will be dancing to ‘Ice Ice Baby’. Any costumes that represent ice, snow, frost etc are suitable. WE ARE TRYING TO KEEP TO A BLUE, WHITE AND SILVER THEME. Because ‘Ice Ice Baby’ is also hip hop based, a hip hop style costume in these colours would be suitable.
Grade 56EN - students in this class will be leading the show, taking on the roles of many characters, and also dancing to ‘Celebration.’ They need to wear a costume suitable to their character (allocated) or Christmas attire – fun and colourful. Please check with your student for their role.
Santa – Lucy
Tinsel – Lila
Mrs Claus - Cassidy
Elves – various students
Other students – Christmas people celebrating in the street
Looking forward to a brilliant showcase of your children’s talents yet again.
Regards, Claire Sexton
