From the Principal's Desk

Week 5
It's week 5 and I am out of confinement! It was great to return to school this week and see all our beautiful students and teachers after 2 weeks of staring at my walls and driving my family crazy!! Thank you to Mrs Polson and our fabulous team for relieving and ensuring our school continued to run smoothly.
Congratulations to Henry D who has recently been selected as part of the Australian squad to attend a Westham training and playing camp in 2026 in England, being trained by some of the best coaches in the world whilst getting the opportunity to see how premier league players play and train. Well done Henry.
We love to hear about these great stories and achievements even when they occur out of school.
Gardening is one of our electives for sport this term and our gardeners have been very busy getting the veggie garden ready and planting seeds.
Kindergarten Teddy Bears' Picnic!
Last Friday all of our Kindergarten students headed out on the bus to Thalgarrah Environmental Education Centre with their Teddy Bears' for a picnic. We learned about the secret of P.A.W.S. - (Plants, Air, Water and Shelter) and through this understood the needs of all living things. It was a fabulous day with our friends and our teddies!
CAPERS
CAPERS TAPESTRY was a fabulous experience for our students. Thank you to Mrs Clendinning for supporting our students through the rehearsals and performances.
Year 6 UNE Science Discovery Day
Year 6 had a fantastic day yesterday at the UNE Discovery Far Out Science Day learning all about all things Science! We are so lucky to have such a great resource at our fingertips!
Peaceful Kids
During Terms 3 and 4, a small group of Stage 2 students participated in our ‘Peaceful Kids’ program. The students have enjoyed being part of the program, and we hope it will have a positive impact on their lives.
‘Peaceful Kids’ is a program based on mindfulness and positive psychology designed to reduce anxiety and stress while enhancing resilience in children. It provides students with the skills, practice, and support needed to apply coping strategies that alleviate symptoms of anxiety and stress. This program aims to strengthen children’s emotional resilience, helping them better manage the everyday challenges and pressures they face.
What our Term 3 and 4 students thought about the program:
● ‘Peaceful Kids’ gave me lots of strategies and it helped me. I loved making the grass head and watering it everyday.
● I loved 'Peaceful Kids' because I could do stuff we normally don't do. It helped me with my anxiety a lot. I'd do it again, everyday.
● I learnt to share my feelings and no one would judge me. Mrs Bull is the best. I loved peaceful kids and I enjoyed everything.
● I liked that it helped me and I use lots of these strategies everyday.
● I learnt how to breathe and calm down, if something is wrong and to just close my eyes and just meditate. My favourite part was the glitter jar. It makes me feel like I don't have to worry as much.

DISCO
Year 6 will be holding another fundraiser on Thursday 13 November in the form of an in-school disco. They wanted to do this for the kids who don't get to come to disco's because of busy lives or distance to travel back to school after school. The cost of the disco is the usual $5 which gets students a packet of chips and a drink. This can be paid in cash as students enter the hall. Students will just wear their usual uniform.
PAX GBG WORD OF THE FORTNIGHT - TRUST
Our new word of the fortnight is TRUST. Trust for kids is a feeling that someone is honest, reliable, and will do what they say they will do. It means believing you can count on people.
AUSLAN at MGPS
This week we continue to learn sign language to help support our learning at school. Our word this fortnight is trust. We also learnt how to sign good morning. Now we can ask how someone is, reply and share various emotions through sign. Ask your child what their favourite sign is. Mine is excited!!
Keep your eye on our 'What's Happening' notifications and the school Facebook page for everything MGPS!! A gentle reminder about dropping your children to school early in the morning. Supervision is provided from 8:30am.
Enjoy your week!
