Catholic Identity

Creator God, we follow in the footsteps of Jesus, as we walk together on your path of love, hope and faith.
Thank you for the gifts of our school,
our environment, our families and friends.
May our school be a place of learning, care, welcome and celebration.
Mary our Mother, pray for us.
St Mary of the Cross, pray for us.
Amen
Together for Humanity
This week, we have welcomed Emma Stenhouse into our school as an ‘Artist in Residence’. Emma is a renowned artist who will be working with our students, staff, board and parish community with a focus of inclusion and cultural awareness, taught through art. This is part of a grant that we secured through Together for Humanity. This is a long-term project that will continue into 2026. Our staff have engaged in professional development several times already and we look forward to continuing our journey.
The Sacrament of Reconciliation
Our students continue their Sacrament of Reconciliation journey this week with Session 3. Mr Ryan is attending the Sandhurst Awards in Bendigo Thursday so Mrs Jamieson will be facilitating the session.
We are incredibly proud of how the students, and their families, have engaged in these life-giving sessions to now.
Readings, prayer and reflection
This Sunday at St Mary’s – Christ the King
This Sunday we celebrate the Solemnity of Christ the King, the final Sunday of the Church year. The readings remind us that Jesus’ kingship is unlike any other; rooted not in power or privilege, but in mercy, compassion, and self-giving love.
In the Gospel, Jesus reigns from the cross, offering forgiveness even in His suffering and welcoming the repentant thief with the promise, “Today you will be with me in Paradise.” It is a powerful image for our school community: Christ leads by lifting others up, by seeing the good in each person, and by inviting us to begin again with hope.
As we approach the busy weeks ahead, these readings encourage our students and families to reflect on what it means to let Christ “reign” in our daily lives—through kindness, patience, and the choices that build peace in our classrooms and homes.
May this feast strengthen us as a community rooted in Christ’s love and prepare our hearts for the coming season of Advent.
