Science

Term 4 has been a steady and productive period across our Science classes. We extend our thanks to the Class of 2025, with all VCE 3/4 Science exams now completed. We congratulate these students on their efforts throughout the year and wish them all the very best as they await their results. Our year 10 and 11 students are currently undertaking their exams, or are beginning their revision preparations, and we hope they use this time to challenge themselves and strengthen the skills – grit, resilience and determination – that will support their future goals.
The year 10 into 11 and year 11 into 12 Step Up Programs will begin shortly. The Science team looks forward to meeting students in their 2026 classes and helping them get off to the best possible start. All VCE Science students should expect a holiday homework program as part of this transition, aimed at preparing them with the skills and background knowledge needed for success next year.
Our Junior Scientists have also been progressing well. Year 7 are exploring Engineering 101, constructing simple-machine models to investigate how levers, inclined planes and other mechanisms reduce the effort needed to do work. Year 8 are working through their Shake, Rattle and Roll unit, learning about earthquakes and how seismic waves move through the Earth. Year 9 are exploring electricity, building and testing circuits as they learn about energy transfer and electrical systems.
We are proud of the consistent effort and curiosity shown by students across all year levels, and we thank families for their ongoing support of Science learning at Berwick College.
