Berwick College Basketball – SSV State Finals
Berwick College was strongly represented at the SSV State Basketball Championships held at MSAC, with our year 7, year 8 and Intermediate Boys and Girls teams all earning their place in the final tournament of the year. Across the day our students competed with great effort, teamwork and resilience, showcasing the strength of our Basketball Academy and the commitment of our players and coaches.
Year 7 Girls - State Runners Up
Our year 7 girls opened the day with excellent intensity, recording strong wins over Maribyrnong and Lowanna before defeating Rowville to qualify for the Grand Final. In a tight and physical contest, the girls fell just short against Warrnambool.
Results:
- Maribyrnong 46-13
- Lowanna 42-13
- Rowville 33-27
- Grand Final: Warrnambool 22-28
Year 7 Boys
The year 7 boys put together an impressive run, defeating Maribyrnong and Lowanna before dropping their final pool match to Rowville. Despite finishing with two wins from three games, they narrowly missed a place in the final on points.
Results:
- Maribyrnong win by 5
- Lowanna win by 24
- Rowville loss by 18
Year 8 Girls
The year 8 girls faced a tough pool but continued to compete with spirit and great effort across all three games. Although results didn’t fall their way, the group showed strong teamwork and a willingness to keep battling until the final whistle.

- Maribyrnong 33-47
- Lavalla 29-32
- Rowville 19-47
Year 8 Boys
Our year 8 boys played three close and competitive matches. After tying their opening game and securing a strong win in Game 2, they finished with a narrow loss to Rowville. Like our year 7 boys, they missed the final on points despite a strong day of basketball.

Intermediate Boys - State Champions
The Intermediate boys capped off a standout year for their group with an outstanding win in the State Final against Catholic College Wodonga. This result adds to their already impressive list of achievements for 2025, including being runners-up in the VSSC tournament and Champions Cup winners.
State Final Result:
- Catholic College Wodonga 60-38
All teams represented Berwick College with pride, effort and teamwork throughout the tournament. Congratulations to all players and thank you to our staff, coaches and families for their ongoing support of the Basketball Academy program.
