Principal's Report

Dear Parents,
What a lovely week of sunshine we've enjoyed! It's always a wonderful time of year as we welcome the change of season along with a bit more sun!
MACSSIS Survey
I want to dedicate this newsletter to sharing the outcomes of our recent MACSSIS survey. Firstly, a sincere thank you to the 59 families who completed the survey, your feedback is invaluable and will guide our planning for the future.
I'm delighted to report that St Leonard’s families gave a strong endorsement across all seven domains, with our results exceeding the MACS averages. Key highlights from the family data include:
- Strong parent-teacher relationships that successfully engage student learning.
- Staff are approachable.
- Students feel safe at school.
Our Year 4-6 students also completed the survey, and their voice is just as vital in our decision-making. Their results also showed a positive endorsement, exceeding MACS averages across the board. Notably, our students feel there are rigorous expectations placed on them as learners, they have a positive disposition towards themselves as learners, and they strongly identify the Catholic values within our school.
This snapshot of feedback is timely as we set our goals for the 2026 Annual Action Plan, allowing us to reflect on our strengths and identify areas for future improvement.
Family Human Development Workshop
We were fortunate to have Sue Pain presenting to our Prep to Year 4 families this week. The sessions covered important discussions around family relationships, managing emotions, body safety, and human development. It was a valuable opportunity for parents to discuss these essential topics with their children, particularly the importance of using their 'big voice' when their body doesn't feel safe.
I hope all attending families found the evening beneficial. The workshop for Year 5/6 families will be held next week.
Ottoman Upgrade
Late last week, we had a delivery of new ottomans for our school! These pieces were purchased by the PFA using funds raised from our recent events. It's wonderful to see such a tangible outcome from the marvelous fundraising held at St Leonard’s. A huge thank you to our entire school community for continually supporting these events throughout the year, and special thanks to the PFA for their tireless efforts in making this happen!
Staff Announcement
I would like to inform our school community that Mrs. Patricia Zomer has accepted the Student Wellbeing and Mental Health Leader position at Emmaus Junior School in 2026.
For 14 wonderful years, Patricia has been a key member of the St Leonard’s family. We are especially grateful for her passionate and dedicated leadership as our Learning Diversity Leader. Her commitment to supporting our students has left a deep mark on our community. Please join me in wishing her every success and happiness in this exciting new role.
