Neurodiversity Day

Hoodie Up for Hoodie Day – Celebrating Neurodiversity March 20th 2026

As part of Hoodie Up for Hoodie Day, our students will be learning about neurodiversity and celebrating the idea that everyone’s brain works in different ways.

Neurodiversity recognises that people may think, learn and feel differently from one another. These differences can include things like how we concentrate, how we communicate, how we experience the world around us, and how we solve problems. Rather than seeing these differences as something that needs to be “fixed,” we celebrate them as part of what makes our community unique and strong.

Through discussions and activities, students will explore how different ways of thinking can bring many strengths such as creativity, curiosity, problem-solving and empathy. We will also focus on building understanding and kindness, recognising that some people may need different supports or strategies to help their brains learn and feel safe.

Students will practise explaining neurodiversity in simple terms, identifying strengths that come from thinking differently, and learning calming strategies they can use when their brains feel overwhelmed.

Hoodie Up for Hoodie Day is a wonderful opportunity for our school community to celebrate individuality, promote inclusion, and remind students that different brains make our world more interesting and stronger.

Thank you for supporting this initiative. Miss Annie Walker (Learning Diversity Leader)
