We acknowledge Dja Dja Wurrung, the Djaara people, as the traditional custodians of the land on which St Joseph’s Primary School is built. We pay our respects to the elders, past and present, and pay tribute to the unique role they play in the life of this region. At St Joseph's school we are inspired by the world’s oldest living culture and celebrate their continuing contribution to the life of this region and the sharing of knowledge. We call on the spirit ancestors to walk with us always as we share and learn together as one.
Celebrating NAIDOC Week
We proudly acknowledge NAIDOC Week, a time to celebrate and recognise the history, culture, achievements, and enduring contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples—the First Peoples of Australia.
NAIDOC Week reminds us of the importance of listening, learning, and walking together in the spirit of respect and reconciliation.
As a Catholic community, we recognise the dignity of every person as created in the image of God. We are called to be people of justice, compassion, and reconciliation, honouring the wisdom of First Nations peoples and working together to build a future founded on respect, truth, and hope.
We encourage families to take time to learn more about the significance of NAIDOC Week and to celebrate the world's oldest continuing cultures. Together, we can continue to foster understanding, respect, and a shared commitment to reconciliation.
