Boarding Update

Boarders’ Co-curricular Achievements

At Kinross Wolaroi we have many different co-curricular offerings available to all our students. These are wide and varied and range from running morning coffee clubs, the School musical, cadets, music, sport and cattle and sheep teams, and the list continues. This allows all students to be able to contribute to the wider school community and achieve much success. It is great to see our boarders making the most of the opportunities that are on offer to them. Not only does our co-curricular program keep our boarders busy before and after school, but it gives them confidence and skills that stay with them for life.

In week one of this term, we witnessed the amazing school musical, Aladdin. This was headlined by boarders Phillipa Richmond and Nick Tancred. The list of other boarders involved in the production was extensive and was spread throughout different year groups, with roles from main cast through to backstage support. The work that was put in throughout the last six months was evident with such polished performances over the five shows.

On Saturday at the rugby jersey presentation breakfast, there was a strong boarder influence on display. The 1st XV and 2nd XV were presented their jerseys by the 16A and B teams. It was lovely to see the camaraderie on display and a strong showing of boys from Wolaroi and Weymouth Houses presenting to their housemates and, in some cases, boys presenting to mates from the same town. This is just one example of the closeknit community that our boarders live in and the strong ties between boarding and the co-curricular program. The engagement and commitment to our co-curricular programs by our junior boarders flows on from the success and enjoyment they see our seniors experience.  Our senior boarders are creating pathways and providing inspiration for our junior boarding students. The conversations that are held in boarding houses across year groups are vital to the success of the co-curricular programs and every year we see juniors rising early to attend gym sessions, extra trainings, travelling to Sydney and Canberra, to compete and help the School to showcase the depth of talent we have here at Kinross Wolaroi.

2026 Leadership Applications

Over the course of the next few weeks, our Year 11 students will be interviewing for various leadership positions at Kinross Wolaroi. These will range from School Captaincy through to Boarding House Captains and Vice-Captains. We wish all these applicants the very best as they go through this process. Leaders will be announced towards the end of the term. It is timely that we thank our outgoing leaders (across a variety of roles in boarding and the day school) for their excellent leadership and the positive role models they have been to our younger boarders.
