Term 3 has begun with fantastic momentum across the Senior School, marked by vibrant activity, outstanding student achievements, and strong community engagement.
Last weekend, we proudly hosted St Stanislaus’ College in the second round of the Independent Schools’ Rugby competition. The day was filled with spirited performances across all grades, with many teams securing impressive wins. A particular highlight was the clean sweep of victories in all Open matches played on the main oval. The level of competition was fierce yet respectful, showcasing the best of school sport. Congratulations to all players, coaches, and supporters for contributing to such a memorable day.
This week also saw the highly successful Kinross Wolaroi Science Fair, where our Year 9 students presented their research projects. The standard of work was exceptional, reflecting the curiosity, creativity, and dedication of our young scientists. The event was well attended by families and staff, creating a wonderful atmosphere of support and celebration. A heartfelt thank you to our Science faculty for their guidance and commitment in making this event such a success.
In the arts, we recently celebrated the talents of our senior students at the Visual Arts Exhibition of major works. The exhibition was a stunning display of creativity and technical skill. The event was a testament to the hard work of our Visual Arts faculty and the passion of our students. Thank you to all who contributed to this inspiring showcase.
Looking ahead, we are excited about several upcoming events that promise to continue the term’s strong momentum. The Science Extension Presentation Evening will offer a deeper look into advanced student research, while the TAS Showcase will highlight innovation and craftsmanship across a range of technical and applied studies.
As we move further into Term 3, we encourage all students to stay engaged, support one another, and continue striving for excellence in all areas of school life.
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Mr Barry Redhead, a beloved former teacher and mentor at Wolaroi College and Kinross Wolaroi School, who died peacefully with his family by his side.
Barry taught at the school from 1971 to 1986, during which time he made an extraordinary contribution to the academic, cultural and co-curricular life of our community. He taught Mathematics and later led Economics and Commerce. He was a driving force in Cadets, including the creation of the Cadet Band, the development of Sharperidge outdoor education centre, and the Duke of Edinburgh Award program. He coached rugby, hockey, riding and lifesaving, and served as a boarding and day house tutor, supporting generations of students with care and compassion.
Barry’s influence helped shape the school during a time of great change and growth. His legacy lives on in the lives of those he taught, mentored and inspired.
Our thoughts are with Barry’s family and all who knew and loved him.
