Laura Jane's Message

Our St Gabriel's Primary School Acting Principal

Today we celebrate St Mary Mackillop. Mary MacKillop was a gentle and compassionate woman who dedicated her life to serving others, in particular women and children. She co-founded the Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart, an order of nuns committed to providing education to marginalised children. Her unwavering faith and tireless efforts to help those in need left a lasting legacy of kindness and charity, inspiring countless people to follow her example of selflessness and love.  We are inspired by Mary Mackillop and her message:

Never see a need without doing something about it.

St Gabriel’s is abuzz with excitement as our children and staff prepare for Boogie in a Suitcase, our school production.  The children with lead roles are practising weekly with Rose and all Hub groups are rehearsing their singing and dance moves in their music lessons.  In week 4 the children will begin to have some short practices with their hub teachers also.  It's a joyful and creative time, and we can't wait to share our performance talents with our families and friends on Friday 5th September.

School Advisory Council

Our School Advisory Council will meet again next week.  We are proud to share that Ridhdhi Kedar is the chair of our school advisory council and Sarah Pinches is a new member this year.  We greatly value their contribution to our school through these meetings.

Parent Teacher Conversations

With a short Term 3, we will be holding Parent Teacher Conversations in week 1 of Term 4.  The children will finish school at 12pm and all the educators will be available to meet parents from 12.45pm. We will share the organisational details of this event with you all through the School Stream app later this term.

Learning and Teaching

We will be ceasing our work with Traces of Learning at the end of Term 3.  We are grateful to Traces of Learning for their leadership in inquiry learning and their work with our educators and children.  They have inspired us to think deeply about how we engage children and meet the demands of the curriculum, all the while viewing children as competent and capable. Our very own learning and teaching team comprising myself, Chevon Adamidis, Natalie Bandiera and Laura Del Busso will continue to lead our inquiry learning beyond term 3.

Traffic Safety

A quick reminder to all parents: please drive slowly and carefully in our school zone during drop-off and pick-up. Taking a little extra time to park and move off safely helps protect all the children in our school community and prevents accidents.
