Welcome to IPS
Dear parents/carers,
I am writing to you in relation to recent social media posts you may have seen on various platforms, describing some incidents. In relation to posts made on social media, the messages were posted on platforms that were not created, or managed, by the school.

100 Days Of School
Grey Hair, Walking Sticks, and Big Smiles: Ivanhoe Primary Celebrates 100 Days of Learning.
Walking sticks, spectacles, and a sea of grey hair filled the Treehouse and corridors of Ivanhoe Primary School on Wednesday, as Foundation students celebrated a major milestone — their 100th Day of Learning.
To mark the occasion, students dressed up as their future elderly selves, donning cardigans, canes, and creative wrinkles. The celebration gave the youngest members of the school community a fun and imaginative way to reflect on how far they’ve come in their first year of learning.
The 100th day of school is more than just a number — it's a special opportunity to celebrate academic growth, perseverance, and the routines that have become a part of each student’s journey. The day also offers a wonderful chance to engage families and create lasting memories.
“When we ask older students to reflect on their time in Prep, the 100 Days of School celebration always comes up as one of their fondest memories,” said a staff member. “It’s a joyful milestone that brings laughter, creativity, and a strong sense of achievement.”
With proud smiles and playful performances, the Foundation students proved that even a pretend 100 years old can still be full of energy, enthusiasm, and love for learning.
Disco 'Rap' Up
Laughter, lights, and lively music filled the school hall last Friday evening as IPS hosted its highly anticipated student disco. The event, organized by the PFA in collaboration with school staff, was a celebration that was met with excitement by students, parents, and teachers alike.
Children from Foundation through Year 6 attended the disco in two separate sessions tailored to age groups, ensuring everyone could enjoy the fun in a safe and age-appropriate environment. The younger pupils danced enthusiastically to family favourites, while older students grooved to chart hits and classic party anthems, all played by our wonderful DJs Ms Hayns and Mr O’Brien who volunteered their time.
The school hall was transformed into a dazzling dance venue, complete with colourful lights and glow sticks. Parent volunteers served ice creams (thanks Annette), while PFA and principals Mark and Pam supervised the event.
"It was brilliant to see the children so happy," said Mrs Wright. "The children have worked hard this year and deserve a fun night to celebrate together."
For many students, the highlight of the night was showing off their best moves, their themed outfits and sparkly accessories.
The disco is a perfect example of our school community coming together. The energy in the hall was incredible, and it's moments like these that help children build positive memories of school.

Finally
Over the past week I have been reminded of how vital trust, communication, and our school values are in shaping a safe and supportive learning environment.
At Ivanhoe Primary School, we are committed to five core values:
🟢Respect
🔵Resilience
🟣Confidence
🟡Persistence
🟠Independence
These values guide how we learn, how we behave, and how we come together when times are tough.
Over the ten years I have been the Principal of IPS, I’ve seen first hand how strong, caring, and committed our community is. So thank you for the support, the honest conversations, and the belief that we can move forward — better and stronger — when we stay grounded in our values.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out. Let’s keep the conversations and the partnerships going.
