Dear families
We are thrilled to extend a warm invitation to our much-anticipated Creative Arts Night this Wednesday 13 August in the school hall. This special evening is designed to celebrate the incredible talents of our students and highlight their hard work and dedication throughout the school year.
The evening will be filled with creativity and talent as our students take the stage to showcase their skills in dancing, singing, and instrument-playing. This event not only allows our students to shine, but it also fosters a sense of community as we come together to support their artistic endeavours.
To complement the evening’s performances, we will be offering a selection of coffee, tea, and cake starting at 5:40 pm. Please remember to bring some cash.
We encourage all attendees to bring a cushion or rug to sit on. It’s a great opportunity to gather with family and friends. We can’t wait to see you there and share this special evening with our school community!
As part of our commitment to fostering literacy development, the Year 1 Phonics Screener assessments are scheduled for this term. This assessment is designed to help identify students' phonetic skills and guide further instruction. We encourage parents to support their Year 1 children by engaging in reading activities at home, making this an excellent opportunity for them to build their skills in a fun and supportive environment.
We would like to inform you that the K-2 Athletics Carnival has been rescheduled for Wednesday 3 September. Unfortunately, wet weather prevented us from rescheduling the Year 3-6 Athletics Carnival prior to the Zone Athletics Carnival which is due to take place on Monday 18 August. However, we are pleased to report that the 3-6 events took place successfully last Thursday and Friday. These events allowed us to determine the qualifiers for the Zone Athletics Carnival.
Get ready to unleash your creativity! Our Crazy Hair Day is on this Thursday. We invite all students to come to school sporting their most imaginative hairstyles. Whether it’s wild colours, funky styles, or whimsical accessories, let your hair do the talking! Year 6 students are fundraising for their end of year farewell. Students who come to school with crazy hair bring a gold coin donation. Our Year 6 students will also be collecting donations to soak a teacher - the last day to donate is Wednesday 13 August morning and afternoon. The teachers with the most donation will get soaked in front of their year groups. All funds go towards our Year 6 farewell.
Mark your calendars for the K-6 Book Parade taking place on Monday 1 September!
Years 3-6 and K/6 T will parade at 9-9:45 am
Years K-2, K/6B and K/6R will parade at 10-10:45 am
This exciting event encourages students to dress up as their favourite book characters and celebrate the joy of reading. Students will have the opportunity to showcase their costumes, share their chosen books, and participate in activities that promote literacy.
When planning costume ideas, be mindful that weapon props (guns, swords, knives) and masks that may frighten younger students are not allowed. Students should also be able to go to the toilet independently in their costumes.
Our Book Fair will also be running from 8:15-10:45 am so that students have an opportunity to buy books and raise money for the school to purchase additional books for our library.
Our P&C will once again support Dymocks Childrens' Charities: Library Boost Project as a fundraiser at the Book Week parade. This is the charity where the money raised for Meadowbank Public School is matched by Dymocks and given to another school in need. Meadowbank Public School and the school in need get to buy new books for their library. Bring some cash on the day, ready to donate!
These initiatives are a fantastic way for students to express their love for literature and for our school community to come together in celebration of reading.
