Principal's Message

Welcome back to our Mill Park Heights Community

It has been another great fortnight at MPHPS, and we have much to celebrate.

  • The National NO Bullying week was a great reminder to staff, students and our community on the importance of being bold, being kind and speaking up. I hope we can continue using these strategies consistently and ensuring our voice is used positively and productively.
  • Our new school values have begun to make an impact within our community. Compass emails are being sent from staff who have noticed students actively showing Respect, Perseverance or Collaboration. It's incredibly heart warming to have people continually looking for our values in action.
  • Swimming continues to be a positive highlight for the students. We have really appreciated the excellent manners of our student in moving to and from the pool.
  • Congratulations to all our students who represented MPHPS at the District Athletics carnival on Thursday last week.
  • The Book Week celebrations were brilliant and the dress up parade was the icing on the cake. It is so important to value time away from a screen and encourage the love of books and reading.

Here are a few reminders for you all:

  • Curriculum Day on Wednesday 27th August. Please book into Camp Australia if you need care during this day
  • 2026 Enrolment – if you have not yet completed your 2026 enrolment forms, please get these in asap. We are collating these numbers in preparation for transition in early Term 4
  • 2026 – are you moving? – we hope we don’t lose any of our amazing F-5 families in 2026, but if you know that you are moving out of the area, can you contact the office and put this information in writing. Other schools will contact us regarding transition of information, and we would like to be prepared.
  • Are you looking to volunteer?  A Parent Volunteer Induction session will be held on Thursday 4th September at 9am. If you would like to attend, please put your name down at the office. You are not required to attend if you have already done this session.
  • Wrappers – do you need them? It would be great to have families consider the amount of paper and wrappers that come in lunch boxes. If you are able to send some items without a wrapper this will help alleviate rubbish problems in the yard.

Did you know that positive feedback, thoughtful acknowledgment or one kind word can have a huge effect on a person’s wellbeing. The emotional impact can be very strong on a person’s psyche and often supports confidence, comfort and willingness to keep trying.  We don’t always know what other people are carrying so sometimes that small act of kindness can really help a person in need.

Wishing you a wonderful fortnight

Chris
