Book Character Parade "Book An Adventure"

The sun was out, the weather was warm and it was the perfect day for a Character Parade.  The students and teachers looked amazing in their costumes and everyone joined in the spirit of the day.

And we certainly went on a book adventure when we celebrated our annual Book Character Parade.  It was fantastic to see so many children dressed in costumes and enjoying themselves as they paraded for their friends, teachers and parents.

We had such a variety of characters such as Harry Potter, The Lorax, Cat in the Hat, Where’s Wally, Spiderman, Disney Princesses, Rainbow Fish, Billie B Brown, witches, magicians, Minecraft, Minions, Baby-Sitters Club, Very Hungry Caterpillar, just to name a few. And the teachers joined in the spirit of the day enjoying dressing as their favourite book character. We won’t be forgetting those 3 little pigs anytime soon!  During the parade every class was able to show off their costumes to the rest of the school.

Our library leaders and school captains did an amazing job comparing the event.  They talked about the power of books taking the reader on an adventure and they directed the children and classes during the parade.  They also joined in with their classes for their final parade of primary school.

Thank you everyone for making such an effort with your costumes, for all the parents and carers who attended, for all the teachers’ assistance and for the children who had so much fun.

The fun then continued for the rest of the day, with the library open for parents and students, with a display of books and memorabilia for our 60th anniversary celebrations.

Altogether it was a wonderful day.

Book Donating

Thank you to everyone who donated books to our library.  Once again it was amazing how many books were donated, and I thank our school community for your generosity.  Books will be loaned to the children who donated them in Week 4 and then will be available to all borrowers from week 5.

Each child who donates a new book will be the first one to borrow that book and a special book plate (sticker) with the child’s name will be placed in the front of the book.  Over the years, many families have been very generous with donating, and this ensures our library is filled with beautiful books.

Thank you again for your support of our library.

Happy Reading
