Senior Years - Term 3 - Weeks 5 & 6
Dear Parents and Carers,
We’re well into Term 3, and students have been engaged in some fantastic learning across key areas:
English
We have finished reading Tom Appleby: Convict Boy by Jackie French. Students have thoroughly enjoyed the text and have been using this as inspiration to write their own informational report.
Maths
Our recent focus has been on angles and decimals. Students have been identifying, measuring, and classifying different types of angles and also adding and subtracting decimals.
Inquiry
This term’s topic is Cyber Safety. We’re learning how to stay safe and respectful online, protect personal information, and be responsible digital citizens.
Religion
In Religion, we’re exploring Sacred Stories and how these stories shape the beliefs and values of different faiths. Students are reflecting on their meaning and relevance today.
At home you could support student learning by:
- Listening to your child read
- Investigate our up coming mentor text (The Grandest Bookshop In The World by Amelia Mellor)
- Investigate common Prefixes and Suffixes such as ‘Spec', 'Inter', 'Vent' & 'Trans'.
- Explore measuring Angles and the different type of Angles (Acute, Obtuse, Right Angle)
- Adding and Subtracting of different decimals
- Examining our Cyber Safety topic in Inquiry by heading to https://www.esafety.gov.au
