Road Safety Reminder

Keeping everyone safe around ENPS

At Essendon North Primary School, the safety of our students, families and staff is paramount. We acknowledge that the volume of traffic in surrounding streets can be difficult for our community in both the mornings and afternoons, and we ask that parents and carers work with us to keep road safety a priority at these times. Please be respectful to staff on yard duty, to our crossing guards and to each other. Everyone is doing their best to keep our students safe, and our ENPS staff have a duty of care in ensuring children are safely dropped off and picked up from school.  Please help us by:

  • being respectful and patient to each other, crossing guards and our staff
  • not doing U turns in the middle of the street, or on/near a school crossing
  • not double parking and expecting children to walk in between other cars
  • abiding by all school speed zones - see VicRoads for more information
  • respecting all parking restrictions and not parking in neighbourhood driveways
  • utilising the second and third streets from ENPS to park and enjoy a walk to and from school
  • dropping children off at designated drop off spots on the school side of the road
  • talking to your children about the dangers of walking around moving cars, about the importance of using the school crossings and entering and exiting cars safely (including keeping seat belts on until the car has stopped) - practise Stop, Look, Listen, Think.
  • avoid arriving too early for your pick up time as this holds up the flow of traffic.

Parking in non-designated parking areas, including our neighbouring residents' driveways, increases safety concerns and causes traffic delays to all families. Moonee Valley City Council conducts routine traffic inspections and violating parking laws also puts you at risk of receiving a fine.

How we work together to support all of our children, families and staff is imperative. We thank you for your ongoing support.
