Year 5 Leadership Day

Today marked the beginning of an exciting chapter for our Year 5 students as they embarked on their leadership journey, preparing to become the future student leaders of SMCM in 2025. Leadership Day provided a rich opportunity for students to delve into the principles of leadership and the importance of service within their community.

The day was highlighted by inspiring presentations from a range of guest speakers, including our principal, Claire Pitcher, Brother Rhys, Senior Constable Wendy Shields from Victoria Police, and a selection of current Year 6 leaders. These speakers shared their personal leadership experiences, reflected on the qualities that define effective leaders, and outlined the paths they followed to assume their roles.

In the weeks ahead, students will continue to explore their unique strengths and deepen their understanding of leadership as they prepare their applications for Year 6 leadership positions in 2025.

Golden Child

Congratulations!

Recently we had brothers, Charlie and Mason F earn their 2024 Golden Child title. The boys worked hard this year in mastering all 118 Periodic Table elements, but with determination and perseverance, they got there.

To earn the title of Golden Child, students must earn masters in and be able to name facts about: the planets, rainbows, bones, the solar system, clouds, the mouth, birds and all of the Periodic Table.

A huge achievement!
