3/4 Camp
Mill Valley Ranch- By Xavier
First we went on the bus. I sat with Ollie and we watched Minions. At camp, we all met in the middle of the town square to find out our cabins and activity groups. I was with Jacob, Andy, Lenny, Blair, Flynn, Alex, Christian, Cooper, Kasch and I.
Firstly, my group, The Mighty Mustangs, went on the Bark Hut Tour. We heard about three people called The Weatherheads. They lived there a long time ago. The bark hut they lived in was so old and dirty.
Next we did the Low Ropes Course. Our group did the Mars Bar Challenge where you had to balance on a rope to other other end without falling off. You were able to hold another rope though.
Finally we did Raft Building. I enjoyed building the amazing raft with my group. Our raft floated in the water. We had to paddle to two buoys out in the lake and paddle back again. We got out of the water and we were freezing cold.
I would recommend Mill Valley Ranch for the Year 2 students, who are coming into Year 3 because it was so awesome.
3/4 Camp To Mill Valley Ranch!- By Elise
I woke up at 7.00am in the morning ready to go to camp. My stuff was all packed and I couldn’t wait to go on my first ever camp. I was bursting with excitement. I arrived at school and my friends were already there. They were also super excited too.
When we got on the bus I sat next to Angelina. The bus driver put on a movie for us, called Despicable Me 2. I relaxed in my chair and watched the movie. The drive took around one hour.
When we arrived at Mill Valley Ranch, the instructors told us our activity groups. I was in the Broncs and our activity leader was Mrs Evans. Finally, we got to find out who was in our cabin. I was soooo happy, because I was with some of my friends. I was also soo happy as I got the double bed all to myself.
Our first activity was Raft Building. We used pipes and ropes to make a raft. It was so amazing that our raft floated. It didn’t even sink.
We were on duty for dinner. We had to set up the tables. We had Spaghetti bolognese with garlic bread and salad. It was so delicious. After dinner we had dessert. We had ice cream sandwiches. YUM!! They were so big!
After dinner and dessert we had a night walk. We had to get changed into warm clothes and we brought out torches with us. On the night walk I saw animals. I saw some kangaroos and bunnies.
Then we had supper. It was chocolate cookies. We went back to our cabins. When we got into bed lots of people in my cabin were talking and laughing, but then we finally got to sleep.
When we woke up we got ready for breakfast. We also had to pack up all of our stuff. For breakfast I had cereal and toast with orange juice. I had jam on my toast, it was so yummy. Then we got to do our last activity. It was Low Ropes. I enjoyed it. We had morning tea and I had an upside down pineapple cake- YUM!! We went to the chapel and did some singing of funny songs with hilarious dance moves.
I loved my first time away at this camp. I had the best time ever and I cannot wait to go camp again in Grade four.
‘’I sat on top of the raft, shrieking and yelling about the unwelcoming freezing cold water! But guess what, our raft didn’t fall apart!!’’ VALERIE
‘’I felt like I wanted to replay camp over and over, because it was the best time ever.” JOSH
“The extreme Low Ropes activity was called the Mars Bar Challenge! It is an obstacle with a tight rope. You think that's easy? There is a catch, you cannot fall off and the spotters cannot touch you! It felt like it was impossible!’ ANDY
“This was by far the best camp that I had ever been on. I hope we can go back to Mill Valley Ranch in the future.’’ ELLE
‘’We did camp cooking, we made damper. Mine was terrible because it was burnt on the outside and raw on the inside. It was still fun trying to cook it though.” COOPER
‘’I had such a fun time on camp, I loved learning about The Wetherhead family and how they lived in the old hut all those years ago.” EMMA M
“In raft building, I had to be a motor to help move the raft, it was soooo freezing. Luckily our raft didn’t sink!!” Rocco
“This camp was like nothing I have ever experienced before. I would highly recommend it to other year levels.’’ Kaitlin
‘’I was mesmerized by all of the old shops at camp, which actually turned out to be our cabins!’’ AYDA
“On Thursday the 10th of October, I was bouncing off the wall at 6.00am waiting and waiting for 9am so we could leave for camp.” Ivy
