A friendly reminder that under our Sun Smart Policy; hats are to be worn during break times at the College in Term 4. With the warm weather, we also ask that students bring their drink bottles to school as it is important that all students remain hydrated, along with limiting interruptions in class.
On Monday, for 7-10 PE, a small group of students travelled to St. Arnaud to undertake a self-defence class with Kyle Torney. Under his and Angus J's watchful eye, students learned valuable techniques that enhance their personal safety and confidence. It was a fantastic opportunity for them to engage in physical activity while learning important life skills. This was the second of three groups, with our Yr. 7-10 girls participating in a session next Monday.
Transition Information night for Year 7 at Charlton College will be held next week, Tuesday 29th October, at 5:30pm in Room 1 Lower. This night is designed to equip parents and students with the information and forms needed to begin their transition into secondary school. Jade Nicholls will be introducing a number of fantastic programs that students will be able to engage in, in order to make this transition period as smooth for students as possible.
On Wednesday 27th of November, we will be visited by a Headspace Mental Health and Education Program consultant. Students in Years 7 to 9 will participate in the education workshop 'Standing Strong', which will address topics such as bullying and mental health. For more information, see Jess McGurk or Tash Roberts!
Year 9's are gearing up for another exciting camp that will strengthen their communication skills, teamwork and resilience. In Week 8, 25th-29th of November, Year 9's will be headed off to Glenelg National Park to complete their Canoe Camp! The camp aims to develop connections with the environment and its relationship to their home community, learn to live more sustainable, challenge themselves in mind and body, develop independence, self-reliance and confidence, as well as develop social skills and knowledge to successfully work and learn in teams. Our previous Year 9 groups have thoroughly enjoyed the camp, and we know this Year 9 group will too!
Any queries regarding the camp, please contact or see Darcy McCallum.
Year 9's will conclude their Trade subjects on the 6th of December. More information to come.
