Prep:
The Preps have been working hard on learning how to run with proper technique and how to dodge. They have been playing tag games to help them sprint and dodge as they get plenty of practice running away from taggers. All of these games can be played at recess and lunch with friends or at the park with some family.
Grade 1 and Grade 2:
The Grade 1s have been working hard on learning how to run with proper technique and how to dodge. They have been playing tag games to help them sprint and dodge as they get plenty of practice running away from taggers. All of these games can be played at recess and lunch with friends or at the park with some family.
The Grade 2s have been practicing their single-handed strike as they begin to prepare for
Grade 3. They have practiced striking off a rubber tee using a long elephant trunk swing into a double V to keep control of their swing. The grade 2s have also been practicing striking a moving ball by using the same technique as the stationary except their arms start in an L shape position to allow for a clean connection with the ball.
Grades 3 and 4:
Grades 3 and 4 have been learning all about Net and Wall games. We started off with a game called Bombs away which encourages students to find gaps among a group of students and to carefully select their shots so the other team can not defend. We are also learning about the net and wall game of Downball. We started off with 1 on 1s before transitioning into 4 square. Students had to think about their positioning as well as their shot selection 2 shots before they made it.
Grades 5 and 6:
Grades 5s started their badminton unit with racquet skills and have moved into learning how to serve, which leads to a rally. The students have been practicing their hand-eye coordination by hitting the shuttle up and down using both sides of the racquet. The more skills they have learned, the better the students have become at swerving, which has led to some awesome rallies!
Grade 6s have started their tennis unit for the term and started strong with racquet skills which have prepared the students for upcoming rallies and serves. The students have worked on their hand-eye coordination to be able to maintain a rally with another student.

Well done to our first Team of the Week in PE. All of these students have shown excellence in PE for the last two weeks. Each student showed all of the school values and participated to the best of their ability.
