Grade 6 Community News

Welcome back Grade 6’s to your very last term in Tarneit Rise Primary School! We have such an exciting term ahead filled with lots of incredible learning and celebrations.

Reading:

In Reading, we will be looking at Poetry this term. We will be learning about different types of poetry, the language used as well as famous poems and poets. We have been learning about different types of poems this week. We created our own anchor charts displaying information about Haikus, acrostic poems, sonnets, cinquains and limericks to name a few!

Writing:

In writing, we are so excited to be starting our scrapbooking topic this term! We will be learning to use a range of genres for reflective writing. Each page will focus on a different genre of writing, and it will be linked to a year in school. We will firstly be working on writing a recount of our first day in prep! We are so looking forward to getting started and in a few starting to create and decorate our own scrapbooks!

Maths:

In maths, we are currently learning about chance and probability. We have been working on calculating a number to reflect the chance or likelihood of something happening as fractions, decimals and percentages. We have been really enjoying carrying out chance experiments where we explore the outcomes of different scenarios.

Vocabulary:

Our Vocabulary words have been selected from the poems we have been studying. Please test your child on what they mean, and how they can use them in a sentence.

Friendly reminders:

As we are starting scrapbooking this term can families please continue collecting and bringing pictures, old work, certificates and anything else that would look great in our scrapbooks. Don’t forget, if you can’t print your images, you can always email them to the class teacher to print.

Graduation: Don’t forget consent forms and payment for graduation is due 30th October!
