Athletics Carnival 2025

The Athletics Carnival for St Anthony’s Clovelly was an incredible success, filled with energy, excitement, and a strong sense of community spirit. Despite the challenges posed by the unpredictable weather, the entire school came together to ensure the event was a memorable one for students, teachers, and families alike.

Overcoming the Weather

Weather conditions threatened to dampen the enthusiasm of the day, but thanks to careful planning and adaptability, the carnival proceeded without a hitch. Whether it was intermittent drizzle or gusty winds, students, staff, and parents demonstrated resilience, ensuring every race and event went smoothly. The commitment of everyone involved helped maintain the festive atmosphere, proving that neither rain nor wind could halt the spirit of competition and fun.

A Big Thank You to Parents and Teachers

A heartfelt thank you goes to all the parents who volunteered their time and effort to make the day special. From setting up stations to cheering on competitors, their contributions were invaluable. Without their assistance, the smooth operation of the carnival would not have been possible. A special thank you to Kelly and Sam Rutherford for helping me transport all of the equipment to and from the venue.

Likewise, the dedication of teachers was instrumental in guiding students and ensuring fair play and safety throughout the day. Special thanks to Miss Cheryl and Miss Santiago for their unwavering support and enthusiasm, especially in organizing and overseeing the mini field events and novelty races for Kindergarten and Year 1. Their encouragement made the youngest students feel included, fostering a love for athletics from an early age.

Competitive Events and Standout Performances

The carnival featured an impressive line up of competitive events, including the 1500m, 800m, 200m, and 100m races, alongside field events such as shot put, high jump, and long jump. Athletes across all year levels showcased their determination and skill, with many students achieving personal bests and demonstrating excellent sportsmanship.

The longer distance races saw students pushing their endurance and mental strength, with supportive cheers from the side lines urging them forward. The sprints displayed incredible bursts of speed and competitive energy, with participants giving their all right to the finish line.

The field events highlighted strength and precision, as students competed in shot put, high jump, and long jump, demonstrating impressive technique and training. These events were not only a test of skill but also a display of perseverance and dedication. Congrats to Nagle who were the winning house on the day.

Exciting Mini Events for Kindergarten and Year 1

For the younger students, novelty races and mini field events provided a fantastic introduction to athletics in a fun and supportive environment. From relay races to obstacle courses, the joy and enthusiasm on their faces were a testament to the importance of fostering participation at a young age. These events emphasized inclusion and teamwork, ensuring every child felt like a champion.

Celebrating Progression to the Conference 1 Athletics Championships

One of the biggest highlights of the day was celebrating the students who earned the opportunity to progress to the Conference 1 Athletics Championships. Their hard work, dedication, and determination paid off, and they will now go on to represent St Anthony’s Clovelly at a higher level of competition. Congratulations to each of these talented athletes—we are incredibly proud of your achievements!

Conclusion: A Day to Remember

The Athletics Carnival was more than just a sporting event—it was a day that strengthened bonds within the school community, encouraged participation, and celebrated individual and team accomplishments. The overwhelming success of the event would not have been possible without the unwavering commitment of parents, teachers, and students.

Despite the weather challenges, the carnival was an inspiring showcase of resilience, dedication, and joy. We look forward to another exciting year of athletics and can’t wait to see what our talented students achieve at the next level.

Once again, a huge thank you to everyone involved—you made the day one to remember!
