Principal's Message

It’s been an exciting and enriching few weeks in our school community! From the vibrant performances at the SCS Dance Eisteddfod, to the confident voices in the Public Speaking Semi-Finals, and the cultural celebration of the Koojay Corroboree.
These events have highlighted the incredible talents, dedication, and spirit of our students and staff. We are so proud of everyone who participated and supported these wonderful opportunities.
And the excitement isn’t over yet—we’re now looking forward to seeing our Choir and Drama groups take the stage at the upcoming Eisteddfod. We can’t wait to cheer them on!
Public Speaking Semi Finals
We are incredibly proud of Luke and Henry, who represented St Anthony’s at the 2025 Botany Randwick Public Speaking Competition. Both students delivered outstanding speeches, demonstrating excellence in manner, matter, and method—the three pillars of effective public speaking.
Luke’s topic, “A four-day school week is the best model for Australian education,” was a compelling and well-argued case for rethinking how we structure learning in schools. His thoughtful insights and persuasive delivery earned him a place in the Grand Final next week—a fantastic achievement!
Henry’s topic, inspired by Pope Francis’ Laudato Si’, asked the important question: “It is up to everyone to care for our common home—should this be a shared responsibility?” His speech was reflective, passionate, and deeply relevant to today’s global challenges.
Both speeches were truly outstanding, and we commend Luke and Henry for their dedication, courage, and eloquence. Well done, boys—you’ve made St Anthony’s proud! 🌟
SCS Dance Eisteddfod
Last week, our talented students took the stage at the SCS Dance Eisteddfod, and what a spectacular event it was! We were proud to have five groups representing our school, each bringing energy, creativity, and heart to their performances.
A special congratulations to our Senior Girls, who danced their way to a well-deserved second place, and to our Junior Jazz group, who received a heartfelt Encouragement Award for their vibrant performance.
This event was more than just a competition—it was a celebration of inclusion, community, and the transformative power of the Arts. Every student who participated showed courage, teamwork, and passion, making it a truly memorable experience for all.
Thank you to our Performing Arts teacher Mrs Jodie McInness, Miss Jade, supportive families, and enthusiastic students for making this such a wonderful success!
Semester 1 Reports
The Semester One report refers to the first half of the year’s teaching and learning and subsequently the end-of-year report refers to the second half of the year (ie. first semester of learning, second semester of learning).
Each year introduces different concepts, content units and skills etc. which can increase in difficulty from the year before. It is therefore possible that your child’s achievement level in a particular Key Learning Area may change.
There are many assessments undertaken, work samples examined, observations made and needs discussed. In Week 9, teachers will be having parent/teacher/student conferences to support, discuss and complement these reports, affirm your child’s learning and to give direction/ focus for future learning. Together the school and you form an important partnership. This partnership supports your children in reaching their potential so that home and school are united in their approach.
Many thanks to our dedicated teachers for always making themselves available to you. Our teachers here at St Anthony's are a truly gifted team of Educators. They themselves are committed learners who strive to provide quality education for our students. The role of the teacher is never easy, it is a challenge but it is without doubt one of the most rewarding careers. Teachers not only work with the children who are our future, but are part of the Church’s mission in passing on our Gospel values. The commitment, passion and care our teachers and staff bring to their vital role is what helps make our school so great.
Invitation to Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences
I warmly invite parents and carers to meet with St Anthony's classroom teachers and participate in Parent/Student/Teacher Conferences about their child's Semester 1 2025 academic progress and learning attitudes from Monday to Wednesday 23 - 25 June. Times are available before and after school during these days and Tuesday 24 June times will be provided into the evening. Information has been sent home via Compass regarding the online booking of parent/teacher interviews which will be held in Week 9. We look forward to meeting with you in the Semester 1 Conferences.
Staff Development Day 6 June
SCECS will be offering care for families on Friday 6 June. Places are still available.
Tell Them From Me (TTFM)
We would like to invite you to complete the Tell Them From Me (TTFM) Partners in Learning survey. As we value the role of parents and carers within our school community we would greatly appreciate your feedback. The information you provide will be used to maintain our commitment to working together in partnership to further improve student learning and wellbeing at St Anthony's. The survey is anonymous and will take approximately 20 minutes to complete.

Lost Property
There is quite a lot of lost property in the tub in our second hand uniform room. We ask parents to have a look to see if any items belong to your child.
Please also ensure that you label items with your child's name, and relabel if it fades in the wash, especially the items purchased as second hand.
With Deepest Sympathy
Our heartfelt condolences go out to Leanna Langlands, whose beloved brother Paul passed away this week. We hold Leanna and her family in our thoughts and prayers during this time of sorrow.
Eternal God, in your infinite mercy, grant Paul eternal rest and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace.
Yours in Partnership
