A Message from our School Council President

Andrew Harrap

Hi Everyone,

Well, it looks like winter has well and truly landed on us now, and it is so great to witness the sea of beanies on the kids’ heads as they head into school every mornings. Hats off (pardon the pun) to the PFA team that have done all the hard work to put the wheels in motion for this initiative, some time ago now. It really does look amazing, and I think really lifts the school spirits as well as we prepare to bunker down for the cold weather!

I wanted to take this opportunity to provide some messages to our school community that are reflective of current discussion topics at School Council meetings of late:

Out of School Hours Care

As Karen outlined in the March 31st Newsletter, we have embarked on a tender process for our Out of School Hours Care provider, with the current contract expiring in August of this year. This process is required to ensure continuity and excellence in this vital service for our students and families. Expression of Interest (EOI) documents were developed and have been provided to our current and potential service providers, where we have invited them to submit tenders in response to operating the Out of School Hours Care program at Carnegie Primary School.

We have now received proposals and presentations from providers, and the subcommittee is now carefully reviewing all the submissions and select a provider who aligns with our school's values and commitment to the well-being of our students. The outcome of the tender process will be announced in due course, following careful consideration and evaluation by the subcommittee, and final approval by School Council. However, what I would like to highlight now is the high quality of all the submissions received, and the amazing services that are indeed available in the Out of School Hours Care space. So, as parent at the school, and regular user of these services myself, I am sitting here very confident and assured that our kids will be provided with an outstanding Out of School hours Care program.

School Contributions

I'm sure you'll agree our teachers are doing an incredible job with our kids. However, as a parent, I'm reaching out as we’re behind other local schools in our parent contributions. These voluntary payments directly support your child’s learning, from technology to classroom supplies, and enable our teachers to set our kids up for success. If you are in a financial position to contribute, even partially, please do as every dollar helps. Many families quietly do their bit (and thank you!), but we need more hands in. Payments can be made on Compass under "Course Confirmations/Payments". Thank you for supporting our teachers and kids.

I would like to remind our school community that not only myself, but all other School Council members, are available to receive any direct feedback that is worthy of discussion in the School Council setting.

Enjoy the rest of the term, and we hope to be providing you with more messages and updated information going forward.

Kind Regards

Andrew Harrap
