Culture Week - Student Experience

Culture week is an opportunity at UHS to highlight the diversity in culture that is represented here at our school. This is shown through Music, Art, Dress and Food over the week. It is an opportunity for us as a school to acknowledge the different backgrounds that we all share and put them on display. This year’s Culture week was a vibrant celebration of the rich diversity that makes our school so special.

Throughout the week students had the chance to participate in numerous fun activities and the chance to explore different cultures through these events.

Activities that happened during Culture Week we have put on:

  • Henna stalls
  • Culture Food Sharing Experience
  • Country Flag face-painting
  • Origami workshop
  • Flags around the school
  • Playing cultural music during recess and lunchtime
  • Fashion runway on Friday with performances
  • Acknowledged Reconciliation Week with Aboriginal Artists music during lunchtime and also making Indigenous flag badges.

Culture Week reminded us all of the importance of inclusion, respect, and the stories we each bring to our shared school environment. Thank you to Dexter in Wellbeing for managing it.
