What's On in 3/4

Kitchen Session
In preparation for Reconciliation Week, our kitchen session focused on using natural and Indigenous ingredients, such as myrtle. The students worked together to bake some delicious cookies while learning about the cultural significance of the ingredients. It was a wonderful way to connect with Indigenous traditions through food.
Kitchen Program – Student Helpers from Blackburn High
This week, we had the pleasure of welcoming some students from Blackburn High School into our kitchen program during Monday afternoon’s session. We’ve organised for them to assist us regularly during our cooking sessions, and we are excited about the positive impact their involvement will have.
Their guidance and support will be a valuable addition, as they bring both knowledge and enthusiasm. Our Level 3/4 students will benefit greatly from learning alongside these older students, who will no doubt become excellent role models and mentors in the kitchen.
Reconciliation Week
Throughout Reconciliation Week, students engaged in meaningful learning experiences that deepened their understanding of what reconciliation represents in Australia. We explored its importance in bringing people together and promoting mutual respect. The week highlighted the cultural richness and the benefits of living in harmony, and it was heartening to see our community come together in learning and reflection.
Assembly Performance
To conclude the week, our students performed a beautiful Indigenous lullaby at assembly. They enjoyed learning and rehearsing the song, and their performance was heartfelt and touching. The sweet melody was appreciated by all who attended, leaving a lasting impression on our school community.
INANY SONG - Here are the lyrics:
Inanay gupu wanna
Inanay gupu wanna
Ay ay ay oola
Oola oola oola ay
Yippee yay yipee yay
Goo wana goo wana
Goo wana goo wana
Goo wah - Choo!
Garden
It’s artichoke harvesting season! Our students have been working hard in the garden, digging up the artichokes they’ve helped grow. Their efforts are now making their way into the kitchen, where we’re excited to use these fresh ingredients in our cooking sessions. We can’t wait to taste the delicious recipes that Deb has prepared for us using our homegrown produce!
Maths:
Multiplication & Division
We are learning to choose and apply strategies to solve multiplication and division problems. We are exploring different strategies and learning from each other to build a strong toolbox of methods.
Geometry (2D & 3D Shapes)
We have been investigating 2D and 3D shapes. We explored the features of prisms and pyramids, how they are made, and how they are used. We even created our own pyramid villages to show our understanding!
