What's On In Foundation

IPAD TROLLEY

We are proud to announce that we now have an iPad trolley to be used by the Foundation students. We will use them during some sessions to complement our explicit teaching to further support your child's learning.

If you have an older child at the school, your Foundation child is able to share their device OR if your child has their own device we encourage them to be brought to school, daily. A notice suggesting recommended learning apps will be shared in the coming weeks.

As you can see from the photos, all students enjoyed reading with the iPads.

If you have any questions please come and speak to us.

PHONICS FUN

Phonics helps us learn to read by hearing the sounds that letters make. Each week, our Foundation students have lots of fun learning  new letters, sounds and exploring new words. We make a special spelling craft and use things like letter blocks, chalk, and letter tiles to practise. These fun activities, along with regular practice, are helping our students grow into confident readers who enjoy sounding out words, reading new ones, and discovering the joy of books on their own.

RECONCILIATION WEEK

The Foundation students celebrated Reconciliation week with pride and showed a real interest in learning about the Indigenous culture. As part of our integrated unit this term, we have been learning about the importance of caring for our environment and respecting the land around us, just as the Indigenous people do. We will also be exploring Dreamtime stories and developing the purpose of passing down important knowledge and beliefs.

We are excited to be hosting a Drama Toolbox Incursion where students will explore a DreamTime story through actions and costumes.  Please check Compass to approve and pay for this event.
