Celebrating the creativity in our school

Eisteddfod Time!

Last Thursday, the choral section of the Shoalhaven Eisteddfod was held here at NCS! Students from all over the Shoalhaven and beyond came to perform in choirs. It was a busy, busy place!

The Eisteddfod committee expressed its heartfelt thanks:

The Committee was very appreciative of all the co-ordination of set-up, use of the MPC – particular thanks to Jim Heffernan and his team – and assistance from Matt West with sound and staff freeing up car park space for guests attending the session (300 audience attended) .

The participating schools were impressed with the venue and it allowed for the entrants to share in the whole eisteddfod experience by watching other schools perform.

Our Primary Choir was entered in a section and sang two pieces: "Non Nobis Domine", from the Henry V movie and "I Won't Grow Up", from our upcoming Primary musical Peter Pan Junior. They had been rehearsing for the whole year, and some of last, to prepare for this and it was all worth it because they performed so beautifully!

The Secondary Choir also entered their section with two pieces: "South Australia", a traditional Australian folk tune and "You Will Be Found", from the musical Dear Evan Hansen. All of the students involved did a fantastic job at holding their part and the adjudicators noted some excellent harmonies from the group. They did very well to pull these two songs together nicely.

"Its a Hard Knock Life"

Last Wednesday the Stage 5 and 6 Music and Drama students travelled to Sydney to watch a performance of the musical Annie at the Capitol Theatre. Although it is a big day, these experiences are very worthwhile because of the insight it gives students into the level of performance required for professionals. It can be very inspiring for young performers to see the joy that a good performance can bring an audience. Our students are always a delight to take away to such events.

Industrial Technology Timber and Textiles and Design Preliminary Projects

Our senior InTech Timber and Textiles  and Design classes recently completed their major Year 11 (Preliminary) Assessments. They did an amazing job, we can't wait to see what they come up with for their major HSC project.
