Captains' Report

We wish to commence by expressing the profound privilege it has been to assume the role of Sion House Captains for the year 2023. Our tenure as leaders of Sion House has been characterized by an unwavering devotion to our duties, and we take immense pride in the collective accomplishments of our House members over the course of this year.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to each and every member of Sion House for their unyielding commitment, even in the face of adversity. It has been truly heartwarming to witness the perpetual positivity displayed by our peers. We were particularly delighted by the spirited participation of those who represented Sion House in various events such as the Athletics Carnival, Swimming Carnival and Inter-House competitions. To the students who stepped forward and actively engaged in these endeavours, your invaluable contributions to the spirit of Sion House have not gone unnoticed. We eagerly anticipate seeing you continue to shine, draped in the regal hues of purple, in the years ahead at Marist-Sion College.

This year, our celebration of Sion House Feast Day saw the convergence of all House members for a profoundly meaningful and respectful liturgy, thoughtfully orchestrated by the esteemed Mrs Black. Subsequently, we revelled in the delight of a delectable morning tea, replete with doughnuts and fresh fruit, thoughtfully prepared by Kathy and the culinary staff. The day also witnessed a spirited game of 'Hungry Hippos,' where both Sion students and staff came together to embrace physical activity and revel in joyful camaraderie. It was a genuine pleasure to partake in this collective celebration and witness the enthusiastic participation of everyone.

Our commemoration of the annual College Heritage Day was marked by the enjoyment of carnival rides, engaging activities and a feast of sumptuous fare. Furthermore, it heralded the return of the renowned Sion Haunted House for its second consecutive year. In a collaborative effort with Joseph House, we brought this eerie attraction to life, delivering both amusement and spine-tingling thrills that drew lengthy queues of eager students and staff seeking to experience the excitement within. The overwhelming success of our Haunted House translated into significant fundraising efforts, contributing to the noble causes of The Catholic Medical Mission Board, Mackillop Family Services and St Vincent De Paul's. Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to all those who contributed to the setup and organization of this spine-tingling attraction. It undoubtedly emerged as a beloved highlight, and we have every confidence that it will grace future celebrations.

We seize this moment to express our profound gratitude to the dedicated Sion staff who have offered unwavering support throughout our journey at Marist-Sion College. A special commendation and heartfelt thanks are extended to our Head of House, Mrs Mandy Moore, whose leadership of our House over the past few years has been instrumental in fostering unity within the Sion community. Mrs Moore, your unwavering dedication to the success of Sion House is deeply appreciated. To our Tutors, we extend our sincere thanks for your warm welcome and your watchful guidance. Your presence has been instrumental in helping us navigate our years at Marist-Sion College and we are truly grateful for the care and mentorship you provide to Sion House students.

In conclusion, we offer our warmest congratulations to Sion House for a truly remarkable year. We eagerly anticipate the continued successes that Sion House is poised to achieve in the years that lie ahead.
