Captains Corner

Term Four

A Day in the Life at DPS

Jenna - Every weekday starts out the same. I wake up relaxed and refreshed, ready for another school day. I slide out of bed, complete my morning routine, and have breakfast, which usually consists of cereal or a slice of raisin toast. I pack my school lunch and fill my drink bottle. Of course, I grab my hat too. Then I hop into either Mum’s or Dad’s car and drive off towards DPS. Generally, I will arrive from about 8:35 a.m. to 8:40 a.m., after arriving I chat with some of my friends who are going to the same high school as me. We discuss preferences for languages, instruments, and so on. Then Mrs Corfios or Mrs Scopas arrives and I enter the classroom to put my bag away. Afterwards, I set out my books and stationery and get ready for the first class of the day. At recess time, I enjoy simply walking around and chatting to my friends. Some days we also might have a specialist or practice our graduation dance. After recess, we usually have subjects such as writing or maths. I also sometimes join the other captains to participate in mandatory activities such as captains’ corner. Then we have our second break, lunch. Lunch for my friends and I is no different to recess, except on Wednesdays, I have choir. In the last hour of the school day, we normally do some finishing up activities or work on our Memory Book. Occasionally, after school, I get to go to the library and find some new reading material. All in all, every day goes well and although I am tired, I look forward to the next day.

Isaac - I wake up in the morning and roll out of bed I am very energetic knowing I’ll soon be able to run around. I get ready for school and eat a big breakfast to fill me up till recess. I then go to school and start my day by playing soccer with my friends before the bell goes. I go to class and eagerly wait till its recess time meanwhile we do work. This changes daily as we get ready for graduation, but in the mornings, we usually do Literacy such as BTN and our memory books. Then we go out for recces and usually play soccer or footy. I do some more work, such as maths or writing, then we have lunch time.  My favourite days are Wednesdays when we have PE after lunch. After school I usually have gymnastics but it depends on what day of the week it is. When I eventually get home, I watch some TV, eat my dinner then read a book and do my homework. Then my day at DPS ends.

Adrina - As it is very hard for me to wake up, I have my alarm set for 7:15, but I end up getting out of bed at 7:30. As soon as I get out of bed, I change into my school uniform, depending on the weather that day. Then, I lazily head to the bathroom and go down stairs to have my breakfast. Usually, I either decide between cereal or a boiled egg with toast or jam and toast. Then, it’s about 8:30 and I head out of the house. When I get to school, I go and put my phone in the office and head to class. Normally, if the door is open, I head inside and get ready for class. The, when the bell rings, we all wait for Ms P and then start our learning for the day. Sometimes, in different sessions, we have specialists: PE and LOTE on Thursday mornings, Science and French on Monday afternoons and Art last sessions on Wednesdays. Other than that, sometimes, we have extra curricular activities. I look forward recess and lunch throughout the day, because I get to spend quality time with my friends and I also enjoy maths.
