CAPTAIN'S CORNER
SENIOR CAPTAIN
This last week has seen a significant milestone reached by our Year 12s, as the class of 2023 officially completed their final VCE exams on Wednesday 15 November! I am so incredibly proud of each and every one of my peers for all they have accomplished these past few months, and I am eternally grateful for the role they have played in making my McKinnon journey the most memorable experience of my life.
As we farewell our graduating class, we excitedly welcome the Class of 2024! They are currently undertaking their Year 11 exams soon to be completed on Thursday 23 November, and will enter their Orientation week on Monday 27 November. I truly wish them all the best during this period of transition, and I hope that this upcoming year is as rewarding and wonderful for them as 2023 was for our current graduates.
Two other momentous events took place this week, with the Senior Art show being held on Wednesday at the Main Campus and the East Campus Woodwind Night taking place on Thursday evening. These nights allowed students from Years 8 through 12 to showcase their artistic talents through visual displays and musical performances, with both nights proving extremely successful. I would like to extend my sincere thanks to all staff, students, and the AV team who made these evenings possible. It is these opportunities that assist our students in pursuing their passions, and that highlight the creative nature of McKinnon’s performing and visual arts programs.
Once again, I congratulate the Class of 2023 as well as all students involved in the Senior Arts Show and Woodwind Night for their outstanding efforts. I would also like to wish the current Year 11 and Year 10s the b3st of luck with their exams.
I look forward to a rewarding and successful end of the year!

JUNIOR CAPTAIN
The school year is wrapping up and the late year scramble to get on top of learning tasks, exams and organising summer holiday plans has begun.
On Tuesday I had the pleasure of tagging along to the Year 7 Super 8s Cricket Gala Day to watch our SMR finals winning Year 7 Boys Cricket team do their thing. The boys and girls cricket teams had fun playing and overall, I think everyone enjoyed themselves. I wish Mr Reid, AJ and the boys the best of luck in their journey through to the state finals.
The East Campus has an ‘out with the old in with the new’ feel to it with South Drive getting ready to welcome next year's Year 8 students for their time at the new campus. I hope they are excited and looking forward to making the campus theirs.
Exams are coming up for Year 9s in their first ever exam and I hope everyone is looking forward to the experience. I’d like to remind all Year 9s the exam is for the experience of sitting an exam and whilst they are important, they are nothing to stress over.
I am very grateful for having this opportunity this year of being Deputy Junior School Captain. I, along with all the other captains have learnt a lot and enjoyed the experience. I wish all an exciting end to the year and an enjoyable summer holiday.
